month in review -- march

I am back to share my monthly highlights for March.  I recall us staying indoors most of the time during March... lots of get togethers, eating and of course Bebsy's fun birthday celebration.

I used Papertrey's Label Basics and Countdown Details sets.  The journaling tags are from MME and the patterned papers are from Simple Stories and Papertrey.

Some close ups...

month in review - february

Can't believe that we are already on the second half of the year.  I have a few "months in review" layouts I want to share.  Today's post is about February.

One of the highlights of my February was meeting one of my crafty inspirations in person, Kelly Purkey.  She was one of the instructors for the Crop and Create event we attended amidst the snow-mageddon.

I used Papertrey's script alphabet dies and Stitches and Swirls stamp set.  The journal card is from Fancy Pants and the scallop border is from MME.

Some close ups...

summer shoes

I have had this layout since last year and realized that I have not posted it yet.  Since it is already summer here, I think it is a fitting reminder of how much fun it is to just walk around on your flip flops.

I used Papertrey's dies (journal tabs, floral foliage, heart border), Studio Calico paper and accent cards from Echo Park (I think).

Since I used 3 different Papertrey dies, I am linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertrey challenge here.

Lastly, this weekend, Craftmates will be part of the Neob Lavender Festival at beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake.  We will be there selling handmade goodies and yummy treats.  You can find the details here.  So, if you are in the area, drop by and say hi!

Patchwork Wristlet

I have a lot of leftover scraps from my quilt-in-progress so I decided to make the patchwork wristlet from a tutorial by Ayumi of Pink Penguin. It is one of my favourite blogs and her tutorials are easy to follow.

Here's my version of Ayumi's patchwork wristlet.

Till next time!

project life

Last weekend, Craftmates (sans Bebsy) crossed the border to do some shopping.  This is us taking a shopping break and having our lunch at our favourite Texas Roadhouse for some fall off the bone ribs (yum!)….

Anyhoo, our trips across the border are never complete without a visit  to Hobby Lobby (sadly, we do not have this in Canada).  And since I have been into documenting the everyday lately, I was very excited to find these there…

Here is an inside look of the kits. I got the Blush and Honey core kits...

and the Childhood and Holiday kits.

I do not plan to use these cards on traditional project life page protector sheets.  I don’t know about you but I feel a bit constricted when I have to put scrapbook elements on a certain spot (as in the case of the page protectors).  I’d like my layouts to have lots of white space.
But I love the look of these journaling cards as they make putting together a page so much faster.  Plus it doesn’t hurt that they look so cute too.  I plan on using them on layouts like this…

With one photo, some journaling cards and a few die cuts, I am done.

I used Simple Stories’ journaling cards and patterned paper, Martha Stewart cardstock and a badge from October Afternoon.

dress up

Here is more everyday moments with my DD...

Playing dress up is a normal occurence in our house. Tutus and fairy wings seem to be the favourites.   Here is a layout I made of my DD with her dress up chest.

I used patterned papers from Simple Stories' Fabulous collection and embelishments from their 24/Seven and SN@P collections.  I am kind of liking one photo layouts lately.

Here's a close up of the photo and journaling...

Home is Where Your Dog Is

What a week!  We were supposed to go on vacation this week but my oldest son (dog) got sick.  We decided to cancel our trip since Sam is already in his senior years.
Mambo keeping Sam company
To make the most of our stay-cation, my HH (handy husband) decided to re-build our backyard (or as I like to call it, our dogs' bathroom) to make it more fido-friendly.

Here is a "before" shot of our yard
My HH took out the sod and dug 6" of dirt to lay the screening and weed barrier.  I also wanted a small area for plants so we left 1-1/2' feet along the perimeter wall.

3 back-breaking days later, here is the finished backyard.

We do not regret missing out on our trip as this is the life we chose.  I am happy to report that Sam is doing better and I think they are happy with the new backyard.

Enjoy the weekend!
