Pirate Costume

One of the things on my "to do" list last month was to sew a pirate costume for my friend's son who was celebrating his 7th birthday. The birthday boy wanted a pirate themed party and I promised to sew his costume for him. Here's the birthday boy in his pirate outfit looking quite pleased with the parrot on his shoulder.

I made the pants using this super easy tutorial from My Cotton Creations. The top was a blouse I found at a thrift store which I altered. It had the billowy sleeves that was perfect for a pirate shirt. I have never done alterations before but it was surprisingly quite easy. The entire outfit took about a couple of hours to make, including the cutting. Since I had some extra fabric left, I also made skirts for these little ladies using this tutorial

Pirate costume - check! Now on to the next project on my list.

Until next time, Ahoy Mateys!

  2. Great job, Virna! It is so useful to be able to sew when you have young children, especially with themed parties etc. Lucky kids!
