One of my favourite floral sets has got to be Papertrey's Darydreamer set.  I love the various flowers and grass image included in the set.  I had time to play during the last Crop and Create event we attended earlier this month and created this set...

 Aside from Daydreamer, I also used Dawn's sentiment from Boutique Borders.

Here they are together... Something to go to a handmade box again for gift-giving.

pwp #30: amazing

Here is part 2 of the layout I created for one of our Niagara trips.  I included more candid shots here so I can one day remember the little details. I particularly love the first photo on the left with me and my DD walking and just enjoying the view.  I feel like we are celebrities being followed by the paparazzi, lol.

 I used mostly Simple Stories and Fancy Pants paper and sticker elements. The heart is a die cut from Papertrey.

march papertrey blog hop - high gloss

 

It’s that time of the month again…. Papertrey’s Blog Hop!

This time, the challenge is to incorporate anything shiny or high gloss in our paper crafting project.  I was a bit stumped at first since I am not really a “technique” kind of crafter.  All I want is to create clean, simple and pretty projects in as little time as possible.  But thanks to Maile’s inspiration here, I realized I can simply use my glossy accents to create a shiny embellishment.  Here is the photo inspiration for this month…

There were 4 things I realized while making this card (which was totally inspired by Dawn’s card here)

-  Leave It Be is a gorgeous and versatile set.  This is the leaf set I have been waiting for!

-  It is my first time trying Fine Linen ink and I love it!  It is a lighter version of kraft and perfect for the non-green leaves I tend to gravitate to.

-  I love open square frames.  They add interest while still leaving a lot of white space.

-  I am okay with CASE-ing or being inspired by other people’s work.  I only have a few hours a week to get crafty so I want to actually spend them creating something rather than being bogged down with coming up with something really original which I may not like in the end.  I prefer to know how my finished work would more or less look like when I’m done.  For me, that is time well spent. 

I used Papertrey’s Leave It Be and Mum’s The Word stamp and die, Slide Frame die, a sentiment from one of the Fillable Frames sets, Hawaiian Shores cardstock and patterned paper and  inks (fine linen, dark chocolate and berry sorbet).

I really like how this card turned out.  That card by Dawn was one of the reasons I bought the slide frame die and Leave It Be set.  I cannot wait to try the same design with the other floral sets I have.

pwp #24: family

I have a quick layout to share today.  It is one of our many trips to Niagara Falls.  This is one place we go back to again and again.  So many wonderful things to do and just the right distance from where we live (not too far but distant enough that you'd feel you've been on a vacation after).

 I used mainly Simple Stories paper and embellies plus a little Papertrey banner die called Countdown Details.

I am also linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertrey challenge here which is to use two of something in a layout.  Here, I used two photos,  2 journal cards, 2 enamel dots and 2 embelishment clusters (one at the top right and one at the bottom left).

fancy folk art

Time to use one of my NSIB (never seen ink before) sets again.  This time, I pulled out Papertrey's Fancy Folk Art set.  As usual, I made a very clean and simple card set... just some quick stamping and matting and done!

Here they are...  I like  that one image almost completely fills the card base...  makes for a good one layer card. 

Here they are together... As usual, they will go in a handmade box ready for gift giving.

pwp #26: dorset lookout

I am back with another layout I made of our Algonquin Park trip last fall. This time, documenting our first bear sighting!  We have been waiting for this moment a long time (I know, kind of silly but that's how we roll).  This was one of the things we were hoping for when we went to Banff last summer.  Did not happen.  And just when we were not thinking about it anymore, there it was... casually crossing the street in front of us (score!).

Here is my layout...

Another clean and simple layout (my secret to getting my pages done quickly!).  I used a journal card and sticker alphas from Simple Stories, Papertrey's Countdown Details die (that itty bitty banner near the hot air balloon which is from Fancy Pants, I think) and some enamel dots.

pwp #22: you + me = love

I am pretty up to date on my scrapbooking but really behind on sharing them.  I dug through my pages and picked a layout I have not blogged previously.

Here is my favourite layout from our trip to Algonquin Park last fall.  It is Ontario's oldest provincial park and offers a vast range of areas like lakes, rocky ridges and hills.

With the weather that gorgeous, all the photos we took turned out really great. This was taken at one of the lakes called Opeongo Lake.  I made several layouts for the trip so the places we visited were all documented (just not in this particular layout, lol).

This page came together very quickly because of its simple design which I love.  A few journal cards from Simple Stories and Project Life, a brad, label stamp (from Papertrey) and sticker speech bubble and I'm done.

another card set

During the Crop and Create event we attended last week (see Aimee's post here), I created a clean and simple set of cards using one of my favourite floral sets, Ruby Rose.  Clean and simple because that is the type of cards I love to do and because there were so many things going on in the event (talking, eating, prize raffle, shopping), that is probably the only kind I could manage to do anyway. 

Here are my cards...  The frame is from Papertrey's Heart Squared die and the stitched rectangle base is from Lil Inker Design.

 
This will be added in my stash of gifts on standby ready for giving.  I just need to make a box to package them.

Colette Sorbetto Top

So this is my first attempt to make an actual garment. I found this free pattern for the Colette Sorbetto top and decided to give it a try.   

I was surprised at how easy it was to make. I even made some adjustments to the pattern and had the pleat inverted to make the top more roomy. 

I also added some buttons for a vintage feel. 

I am so pleased with how it turned out and I'm definitely making another one just in time for summer. 

If you're looking for an easy project, you should definitely try this free pattern. You can print the pattern from your home printer and tape the paper pieces together.

family day

We celebrated Family Day with some friends last month.  That was the only long weekend we had during February and the cold winter did not prevent us from having fun.  There were snow tubing, skiing, skating, swimming  and rec room games involved.  Here is my layout...

  
I used patterned papers, journal cards, sticker elements and ephemeras from Papertrey, Simple Stories and Fancy Pants.  It is a bit busy for my liking but I could not let go of any of the photos I printed so I just tried to make it work.

We are out on spring break this week (or March break as we call it here, maybe because it does not really feel like spring yet! lol) basically doing the same things... skiing, swimming and snow tubing.  We could do these all winter!

Craftmates at Crop & Create

The Craftmates spent a whole weekend at the Crop and Create event in Markham, ON last March 1st to 2nd, 2014.  Aside from paper craft projects, the girls spent some much-needed bonding time just to catch up, share a few laughs and even [over] indulge in high-calorie fare.
