the untitled layout

Once in a while, you get so happy and carried away with a layout that you simply forget to incorporate a title for it.  Such is the case for this clean and simple layout I made for a party which my DD recently attended.  Craftmate Bebsy’s daughter, Sofia, (otherwise known as my long lost daughter, but that’s another story)  turned 9 last May and we celebrated it with a sports-themed party.  Since my DD is the littlest of the bunch, she was just happy to be on the sidelines as she watched the bigger kids play different kinds of ball games.  Here is the layout I made for that.

I kept it very simple and used minimal supplies which included Papertrey's banner dies from Countdown Details and the little heart stamp from With All My Heart, Simple Stories' patterned paper and some DCWV cardstock.

Close up of the banners and journaling...

I am also entering this to CAS-ual Friday's Clean and Simple challenge for this week which is about banners and flags.

Thanks for stopping by!

one card, three challenges

I am really getting the hang of all these challenges.  It is something that I look forward to every week now.  Sometimes I surprise myself that I can make my card fit more than one challenge.  Such is the case for this card.  I am entering this not only to one, nor two but three challenges.  Talk about being efficient, ha!

Here is my card. I used Papertrey stamp (celebrations), die (modern alphabet, wonderful words, framed out), impression plate (woodgrain), cardstock (smokey shadow, true black, spring moss, aqua mist, hawaiian shores), patterned paper (bitty dot pure poppy) and ink (fresh snow).  Wow, this is a 100% Papertrey card!

I am entering this to the following challenges:

- One of Papertrey’s Anniversary contests where we were asked to create a project inspired by one of the Design Team's favourite projects.  I chose Danielle Flanders' XOXO card. I  love the dark background and the gradient of colour in this card.

- Next is at CAS-ual Fridays.   The challenge is to use letters creatively in our CAS project.  I used my different die cut  letters to create the focal point of the card.

- And lastly, I am entering this to Passion for Papertrey’s Love is in the Air challenge.  The project does not have to be for Valentines but should be love-themed.  I made this card for my Dad’s birthday.  His birthday is not until October but I want to make my cards in advance, lol.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are having a fabulous week!

mim #101 and CAS-ual Fridays # 86

I am really enjoying participating in challenges lately.  This time, there is an interesting challenge over at Papertrey on Layered Embossing.  Confession time... I have not tried embossing before although I had good intentions.  I have my embossing powders and heat gun to prove it.  Somehow,  I just feel intimidated with that technique.  I finally gathered up the courage to try this and it was a lot of fun.

I also checked what is happening over at CAS-ual Fridays and found that this week's challenge is to create a CAS (clean and simple) card that has a long and short side.  Sounds fun!

I made this card for a friend who will be celebrating her birthday in Feb.  Here is my 4x8 card...

I used Papertrey Ink stamp (Sentiment Signs, Ribbons and Bows, Funky Florals), cardstock (berry sorbet), ink (smokey shadow) and patterned paper (striped smokey shadow).  I also used Versamark ink, SU white embossing powder and Ranger polysparkle powder. Love the shine and sparkle from the clear embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by!

in the meadow

The Papertrey DT (design team) recently re-visited this old holiday set from last year.  I immediately fell in love with In the Meadow when it was first released because it was different from the other sets I have.  I love the silhouettes and the scenes you can build even with just the dies.

And because of the DT's wonderful creations (esp Maile's cards), I was inspired to revisit this set too. Here are a few cards I made with it...

And for my last card, I decided to play along with the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge.  This week, the challenge is to create a Clean and Simple project that features a knot or knots.  And here is my adorable little boy in a sled.  I made him a scarf using some red and white twine from Jillibean Soup.

And because he is so stinkin' cute, I made two of him...

And here they are all together...
