homemade with holiday cheer

One of my favourite things to give as gifts for the holidays is homemade baked treats.   Some of the treats I did last year were hot chocolate squares with marshmallows found here, biscotti and tea found here and a chocolate chip cookie mix found here.  This year, I went traditional with my banana walnut bread. It is healthy (no chocolates involved!) and very easy to make, thus giving me more time to work on my cute packaging.

Here is a sample of one of them.

I found this genius of a box at my local Winners store and I knew immediately that I will have to make bread this year.  Just mix your batter, pour on the box, pop in the oven and wait for it to be done.   Because the packaging is already cute, all I needed were clear FDA-approved bags and tags to match.

Here is a close up of the tags.  I used Papertrey’s Holiday Treats  and Bells and Bough sets, Tag Sale die and Kraft cardstock.  The ribbons were from Michael’s.

And here is my first batch all together.  I tucked in a packet of tea at the back to enjoy with the bread.

christmas tags and wraps

Tags are one of my favourite things to make for the holidays. After I have decided on a design, I find it relaxing making them over and over again.  I sometimes put together bits and pieces of it while waiting on my DD's ballet class.

Here is the tag (and wrapping) for this year...

I used one of the dies from Papertrey's In The Meadow set. The tree is from Hero Arts and the To/From is from one of the Fillable Frames sets, also from Papertrey.

One of the things I ordered recently from Papertrey is the Get a Handle on It die.  I was not in love with it when it first came out but the more I see people use it, the more I feel I have to have it, lol.

I had plans of using it to make pretty packaging for the bath and soap products I love giving away for Christmas.  And I am quite pleased with the results. This will go to my DD's daycare, piano/ballet/gymnastics teachers.

Here they are together... makes me happy looking at them.

"Get Well Soon" Care Package

My friend Carol Ann and I attended a trick-or-treat function at the zoo recently.  Although the event was a lot of fun, we both caught the bug from handing out candies to almost 800 kids.

I was able to shake off the sniffles but Carol Ann is still feeling under the weather.   So, I decided to put together a care package for her.

From my pile of goodies, I pulled out honey and tea, my surefire remedy to any ailment (at least, that's why I think).

To package the gift, I made a gift box to make the present extra special.

I hope the care package makes her feel better or at least let her know that someone is looking out for her.

Enjoy your weekend and have a fun & safe Halloween!

october papertrey blog hop

It's that time of the month again... Papertrey's Monthly Blog Hop

This time, the challenge is to create a quick set of five gift tags.  Here is the inspiration photo.

My DD is having a circus-themed birthday party in November.  So my mind is not on Christmas mode yet.  For this challenge, I whipped up some tags to be used for her loot bags.  Here are some of them...

I used Papertrey's various Tag Sale dies (#3, 5, 6 and 7), vintage cream cardstock and my new favourite Antique Alphabet stamp set.  The ferris wheel image is from Lawn Fawn's Admit One set.  I simply coloured it with my copic markers and called it a day!

Since my supplies are out, I whipped out another set of tags for general birthday gift giving.  I used the same tag dies together with the Trendy Trees dies. The "to" and "from" are from one of the Fillable Frames sets. These ones have a more autumn feel to them.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the blog hop!

wildflower tags

I wanted to do some quick stamping one night but did not have a lot time to complete a layout or a card.  So I pulled out some of my tag dies from Papertrey and created some tags.  I remembered my Craftmate friend, Aimee, asking for sample tags which a local vendor  requested for his store after Aimee used one of my tags for her gift to the owner.  This vendor is selling handmade natural products made of lavender and other aromatic plants.

Here are the tags I came up with...

I used Papertrey's Wildflower set and the different Tag Sale dies.  This came together very quickly as the overall look was inspired by the store's look.
