pwp #23: frances-ism

This is probably the last Frances-ism layout I have on my stash that I have not shared with you yet.  The silly photo shows her attempt to fit into one of our laundry bins while sporting her neon-coloured ear muffs. This was one of those random days she was at home over the Christmas break, lol.

I used Papertrey's Headline Alphabet and journal tab dies, Project Life cards and an Technique Tuesday stamp.  I finished it off with some MME enamel dots and Simple Stories paper.

Close up of the journaling...

pwp #7: mother dear

Here is a layout I made of our Mother's Day celebration this year.  Every year, we go to somewhere my DD enjoys and more often than not, it involves some form of water, lol.

Here is my layout...

Since I am fond of including multiple photos in a layout, this is definitely one of my favourite go-to designs.  Do you recognize it from here...

... and from here?

I am all about repurposing and reusing. So if something works for me,I tend to use it over and over again.  Just by altering it a little bit, it makes my process go a lot faster without my layouts feeling exactly the same.

Anyway, back to my Mother's Day layout, I again used  Simple Stories and Project Life cards, Get a Handle on It die, Building Blocks, Calendar and Label Basics from Papertrey and some round embellishments from Simple Stories.

Here's a close up of the journaling...

I am also linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertrey challenge here which is to use a PTI sentiment in your layout.  Told you that Building Blocks will be a regular feature on my pages.

june papertrey blog hop

It is that time of the month again.  And despite my busier schedule, I am happy to be able to participate.  I figure I needed to create a retirement card anyway, so why not use this adorable inspiration photo....

... along with this sketch....

and this colour combo (well, at least some of the colours).

And here is what I came up with... It is for a dear colleague of mine who is retiring from the company after more than 37 years of service.  Yes, 37 years! I am so happy for her and she has fabulous plans of travelling the world on this new phase of her life... hence the airplane!

I used various square dies from Papertrey, stamps (Mega Mixed Messages, Framed Out #1 and Little Hot Rod), paper (raspberry fizz, harvest gold and tropical teal), ink (true black, raspberry fizz) and cardstock (true black).  Lately, I find that I cannot create without putting some form of a black accent.  It is not any different with this card.  Love the impact a black colour brings to any project.

Thanks for stopping by and happy hopping!

pwp #23: super cool

I am back with a quick post on a Frances-ism layout I did a while back.  For those who are new, one of my favourite pages to make is a compilation of the silly things my daughter says that totally crack me up.  They are getting few and far between so I may be on my last few pages.  I will still create pages of her words of wisdom but they may be more memorable than silly.

Here it is... I also love to use silly pictures to accompany her silly words, lol.  These photos were taken after attending a birthday party where one of the treats was a blue bubble gum. Here she is proudly displaying her work of art...

I used Papertrey's Get a Handle on It die (for the banner) and Label Basics stamp.  I also used a lot of Simple Stories cards and stickers. The flair button is freebie I got at a crop and create event.

If you are interested, here is a closer look at her quotable quotes...

pwp #19: cinderella

Wow, it has been a while!  Sorry for neglecting our blog.   There had been changes at work and suffice it to say, it had been really hectic since (and will continue to be).  So I will be lucky to even have some crafty time in the next few months.  For now, I will be sharing layouts I had previously created starting with our date to the theatre to watch Cinderella ballet.

I love it that my DD is now at an age where she can actually enjoy a theatre production.  So when her ballet school did a professional staging of Cinderella, we were the first in line. And because we know the people behind the scenes, we got backstage access after the show for a fun meet and greet with the cast. Score!

Here is my layout...

I used Papertrey's dies (Headline Alphabet, Get a Handle on It and Label Basics) and a combination of Simple Stories and Project Life cards.

Close up of the journaling...

I am linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertey challenge here which is to use 3 different PTI dies.

may papertrey blog hop: aqua and melon

It's the time of the month again...  Papertrey Ink blog hop.  This month's challenge is a colour challenge using two of my favourites, aqua and melon.  Here is  the inspiration photo...

And here is my card...

It had been months since I bought the scribbled circles and this is the first time I am using it.  And now I remember why I love this set so much from the time I first saw it.  It is fun, playful and makes such a statement on cards.

Aside from that, I also used Papertrey's Leave It Be set and the diagonals cover plate.  I did not yet put a sentiment.  Maybe I will leave it without a sentiment outside and just put one inside.

Thanks for stopping by and happy hopping!

pwp #7: today was fabulous

So lately, we have been setting up our schedule based on my DD's extra curricular activities.  Saturdays are usually off limits because that is one of the days when she trains for gymnastics.  Little did I know that her gymnastics will also require us to be at competitions at 7 in the morning, lol.

Here is a layout I made of her first ODP (Ontario Development Program) competition.  It was a fantastic experience for our little gymnast and her eager parents.  Needless to say, lots of photos were taken and hence this layout....

I used Papertrey's Building Blocks set and Simple Stories' word stickers.

I am linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertrey challenge here which is to use a PTI sentiment on your layout.  Building Blocks is my current favourite sentiment set for both cards and layouts (so you will likely see it again here, lol).

easter layout

I am back for a quick post to share an Easter layout.  We went to the cottage for that long weekend with some friends.  One of the highlights of that trip was the photo shoot on Easter Sunday where the grown ups were faced with the challenge of getting our girls smile for the camera.  We had 2 babies with us less than one year old and you can imagine the effort it took us to have all 4 girls smiling at the same time.

For now, I will be sharing our family's photos from the shoot.

I used Papertrey's Garden Grace for the flowers at the corner and lots of Simple Stories square journal cards (love those!).  The "Say Cheese" sticker is a transparent sticker from Simple Stories as well.

bring your own sunshine

Here is part 2 of my Spring Break layout.  Again, I followed my tried and tested formula of white background, grid style and some embellishments scattered here and there.

Here it is...

the layout is actually straight... it's my photography skills that's the problem, lol
I used Papertrey's Label Basics and Fabulous Frames stamp sets and Ali Edwards' Just Awesome and Fun Flair sets.  The journal cards are from Simple Stories and Project life.

Happy Mother's Day in advance to all the moms out there.  We are out this weekend celebrating my day at my DD's favourite waterpark (she can make any day all about her but I don't really mind, lol).

Thanks for stopping by!

pwp #30: lakeridge

I  have a layout to share of how we spent part of our spring break last March.  It was all about skiing (and learning how to) this winter so a good portion of my DD's break was spent on our favourite ski resort at Lakeridge.  We tried two other resorts last season and Lakeridge was hands down our favourite as it was beginner and kid friendly.

Here it is... This layout pretty much represents my scrapbooking style-- white background, grid style and embellishment clusters. I made several layouts over the weekend and they all somehow have the same look and feel which I love.

I am loving Simple Stories' Charmed Life collection which I used on this layout.  I love its colours and it fits well with the colour scheme of the page. I also used Papertrey's Headline Alphabet dies and Calendar Basics stamp.

I am linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertrey challenge here which is to use a heart that is not pink or red on a layout.  The round "life is wonderful" embellishment is one of my favourites of the collection and I love that the heart was a non traditional blue colour.

pwp #26: puppy love

I made another layout using Papertrey's Feb Monthly Moments journal cards.  This has one of my favourite colour combos so I will be using this lots.

Here it is... It is one of those everyday moments that I would like to make more of.

Aside from the journal cards, I also used PTI's Headline and Modern Alphabet dies and Banner Builder die collection. The "Document This" banner sticker is from Simple Stories.

Close up of the journaling...

Since I have 3 photos here and I also had 3 spots where I have hearts, I am linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertrey challenge here which is to use three of something on your layout.

papertrey ink april blog hop -- embroidered inspiration

It's that time of the month again... Papertrey's monthly blog hop.  This month's challenge is to use colours and design of an embroidery to build our own stamped version.  No stitching required!  And here is the inspiration photo...

I was inspired by the sixth photo above and used the pink and teal colour combo.   Here is my card...

I used Papertrey's Embroidered Blooms set, cardstock (white and hawaiian shores) and ink (raspberry fizz, hibiscus burst, tropical teal, hawaiian shores, simply chartreuse, limeade ice and true black).  The background stamp is from My Creative Time.   I also used my Spellbinders Card Creator dies to cut my front panels.

Thanks for stopping by and happy hopping!

pwp #7: SNAP!

I have been dying to use Papertrey's new Monthly Moments journal cards on my layout. No matter how many journal cards I have from other companies, I know that these Papertrey cards will always have room in my collection.

I am not a pocket scrapbooker so I use my journal cards on traditonal 12x12 layouts.  I just love having lots of white space on my pages so I do not think I will be switching over to pocket scrapbooking any time soon.  But that doesn't prevent me from buying more journal cards :)

So here is my layout...

I love my pages clean and simple (and quick to make!).  I used various patterns from the Feb Monthly Moments cards and let them do the work.  Love the smokey shadow, scarlet jewel and kraft colour combo of this collection.

Aside from the journal cards, I also used Papertrey's Building Blocks stamp and die set.  I love, love, love this new set.  It is perfect for scrapbook pages like this.  I also used the Banner Builder die collection and modern alphabet dies.  The hearts were from a Stampin' Up punch.

I am also linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertrey challenge here which is to use a PTI sentiment stamp in your layout.  I see myself using this set in many other layouts in the future!

pwp #32: you are so very loved

I finally got  the chance to play with my new goodies and created a layout.  It was inspired by Dawn's no sew quilted card here.   I don't know about you but I am seriously obsessed with my DD's feet or more specifically, toes.  I have been since she was a baby.  I thought it was just a phase but after 5 years, I still cannot get over it, ha! Anyway, here it is...

I used my journal cards from Project Life's Midnight kit for my patterned papers (love, love, love this kit!).  I just trimmed off the curved corners and went to town creating a quilt pattern.  I also used my new A Few Pointers set from Papertrey. Love this set as it is perfect for scrapbooking.

I am linking this to Leigh Penner's Pages with Papertrey challenge here which is to use 5 or more different patterned papers in a layout. Since the Project Life journal cards come in multiples per design, I have no problem using them on projects. I thought using them this way was a good way to make a dent on my stash.

quick easter treats

I was preparing for easter egg hunt and stuffing those plastic dollar store eggs with treats when I ended up with a bunch of extra chocolates.  I do not really have a sweet tooth so I had to think of ways to use them.  I decided to make these little treat boxes for my DD's friends.

I used Papertrey's mini take out box and placed some shredded paper grass inside topped with the little egg chocolate treats.

Here is how I finished them up with a simple ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by!  And if you are celebrating, Happy Easter!
