Mug Rug

I have always been intrigued by the intricate art of quilting. Despite my fascination, I stayed away from it  because I am drawn towards simple and easy projects. For me, quilting appears to be tedious, complicated, and overwhelming.

When I came across a tutorial from the split stitch, I decided to take my interest in quilting to the next level. I found the  instructions very detailed and easy to follow. It was time to try my hands at quilting by starting with this small project.

I am so glad I gave it a go because look at what I made:

French Macarons - Yum!

Before this project, I have never heard of the term "binding" but the step by step instruction was so clear that I didn't have any difficulty following it.

I even got to use one of the stitches in my sewing machine for the decorative detail.

Will I be making a quilt blanket anytime soon? Maybe not, but I will definitely make more of these mug rugs to give away for the Holidays.

Happy Sewing!

  3. Virna,

That is adorable. I too am just overwhelmed at the thought of quilting. Maybe once I get my stitching down I will venture out. :) Happy weekend.

  6. Oh that is sweet! Well done you! If you enjoyed it, you could do the patchwork without the quilting
